I’ve uploaded a condensed version of my “Pet Food Recall - What You Should Know (And Do)” post in .pdf and text formats.

Feel free to download the “Recall2Page.pdf” file, print it out, send it to friends, etc. If you would prefer to copy the text into a publication of your own (a newsletter, on your business stationery to hand out to clients, etc.), download the “Recall2Page.rtf” file instead. Please keep the text intact and include the proper byline (”by Ann Dupuis of Your Dream Dog, yourdreamdog.com”). If you wish to include the text in a publication that is for sale rather than free, please contact Ann Dupuis for permission before publication.

Drop It!

Dogs pick up all sorts of things, and some of them can be dangerous. (Cooked chicken bones are one example.) Whenever your dog picks up something harmful, or starts carrying around or chewing something you value, a good “Drop It!” behavior can really come in handy.

This “Exercise of the Week” explains how to use clicker training to instill a reliable response to the “Drop it!” cue. (There’s also a list of things not to do, no matter how tempting they may be!)

Catch Your Dog Being Good

Too often, we tend to notice our dogs when they’re being bad (barking, chewing on something they shouldn’t have, pestering us for attention, etc.) but don’t really notice when they’re being good (lying quietly at our feet or on their bed). This Habit of the Week sheet will help you train yourself to “catch your dog being good.” The more you notice, praise, and reinforce this good behavior, the more good behavior you’ll see!
